Charles Mingus: Triumph of the Underdog
This is a clip from Charles Mingus: Triumph of the Underdog. I saw this
yesterday and it didn't blow me away. What I learned was that while Mingus
was a great bass player and a bit of a handful to deal with, he is also a great
composer. After his death his wife and friends put together a concert of
Epitaph, which he unsucsessfuly preformed once in the 60's. Im sure there is
a recording. Im looking for it now. If anyone knows where it is, please let me
know. The opening of the concert is at the end of Triump of the Underdog, and
it rips or swings as the cats say. Since I can't find a video feed of what im talking
about I added the following because it also Swings.
